Alagna, Monte Rosa, Valsesia, Italia

Alagna is a small mountain village in Valsesia. Found at the foot of the Monte Rosa in Italy the relaxed atmosphere of this genuine Alpine environment is the perfect place to ski big off-piste runs away from the crowds.

About Monterosaski resort
The Monterosaski resort consists of three Valleys (Alagna, Gressoney and Champoluc), it covers a vast area and is therefore an environment suitable for all levels of experience, from beginners to off-piste experts, skiers, telemarkers and snowboarders. There are also lots of possibilities for ski touring. Heli skiing is an option paid for separately.

January 2010 will be the inauguration of the new lift up to the Glacier of Roccette and Indren, just a few hundred metres below the top of Punta Giordani, one of the 4thousand metre summits in Monte Rosa Massif. This will reach the incredible altitude of 3400 metres and will make the Monterosaski resort one of the biggest and more complete resort in the Alps. But also from the step below, Passo Salati (2971), we can get to ski almost 2000m vertical on the Bors glacier down into the Valsesia or the Gressoney valley. It is a massive area that gives us a lot to discover; descents over glaciers, into big open bowls and narrow steep couloirs. Our local Alagna ski guide knows plenty of hidden spots to ensure safety and find us untracked powder many days after the last snowfall.
There is also the opportunity of doing a day of heli-skiing during the week. An ascent with a helicopter to Lysjoch or Signalkuppe gives us a height of 2500 metres skiing down to Zermatt. Lifts and off-piste runs will take us all the way back to Alagna, crossing over the resort of Cervinia, Champoluc and Gressoney, and skiing down for a total 7535 drop metres and doing a round trip of about 70 km in the same day!!!!

Accomodation: Bed & Breakfast Locanda Margherita

The Locanda Margherita B&B hosts us in a friendly and genuine Italian ambience. The old and renovated house is located in the historical mountain village Rassa, outside Alagna, in a beautiful natural environment. The village has retained its original character and it provides the ideal base for a relaxing week focused on off-piste skiing.
Four large bedrooms (2-3 persons per room), two shared bathrooms, lounge, terrace and garden. Dinners we will have at the neighbouring restaurant, serving tasty and plentiful Italian food.

St. Anton, Arlberg, Austria

Ski areas: St.Anton, St.Christoph, Stuben to Lech and Zurs, Sonnenkopf
Number of lifts: 85

Skiers and snowboaders have access to over 270km of groomed slopes and over 180km of deep powder runs can be enjoyed in this snowy paradise.
In 2006/2007 a new gondola replaced the old Galzigbahn. In the evening The pedestrianised main street lined with shops, restaurants, hotels and bars is alive with skiers and snowboarders.
The 6 well connected ski systems of the Arlberg makes a massive area of wide slopes available for lift-accessed off-piste skiing. Frequently powdery snow conditions and long off-piste runs from one valley to another give us a great playground for powder skiing and practice in off-piste terrain.
On the seemingly endless white slopes, many runs remains untracked several days after the last snowfall due to the quantity of options, and the fact that they are typically avalanche prone straight after a big dump.
Below the high mountain areas there are plenty of forests and couloirs to ski on low visibility days, which is why we can get unforgettable powder skiing on both clear and snowy days.
Off-piste opportunities are extensive and varied with exciting descents from Valluga and Kapall.
St Anton has a great Apres ski atmosphere and so if you still have energy left after skiing the powder this is a great place to party. After that, when you start to get hungry there are many restaurants offering traditional Austrian food.

St.Anton is a great place for all levels beginner to off-piste experts, skiers, telemarkers and snowboarders.
